Names being tossed around for the Illini head coaching gig include Chuck Long (assistant at Iowa), Tim Brewster (former Illini and tight ends coach for the San Diego Chargers), and Randy Edsall (UConn head coach). Urban Meyer and Dan Hawkins couldn't comment because they were overcome with hysterical fits of laughter when contacted about the opening. I say bring on the Zooker!

Great job by Ty Willingham this week making halftime adjustments to deal with USC's offense. Have fun in the Insight.com bowl (fun fact for the day - Illinois has more bowl game victories than Domers in the last ten years). ... Does anyone else think a Lloyd Carr - Jeff Bowden ticket could make a run on the 2008 Republican ticket? Even Pat Roberts thinks they are too conservative. "Run, run, pass, punt" could be the campaign slogan. ... The BCS is once again a gigantic mess. We're two losses away from having two non-Top 25 teams (Pitt and Colorado) playing in marquee bowl games while a 10-1 Texas team is left out. And barring an upset, the best team in the land (Auburn - come on Janice, admit it) won't be playing in Orange Bowl. ... Big game this week - the Top 5 matchup between the Demon Deacons and the Illini (whoops, wrong sport). :)
